We like to joke that we met in a romantic comedy script. In April 2023, the day before a wedding we were standing in as Maid of Honor and Best Man, the wedding party met up for dinner and drinks, and we spent most of the night talking. Who knew that topics like lease accounting standards would set the stage for a long distance romance?!

Chris still had a storage unit in Louisiana which he used as an excuse for coming back to the area to see Megan a little more than a month after the wedding. We hit it off immediately, and before we knew it, Chris needed to be in the area again for that darn storage unit! If you know Chris, you know how he feels about heat, but he made several trips to Louisiana over that summer, including an outside event where temperatures reached 114 degrees!

Megan’s first trip to Virginia came a few months later at the height of the autumn leaf color change, a beautiful time of year for us to fit in some of our favorite outdoor activities - visiting vineyards and going hiking.

Over the course of the next year, we made frequent trips back and forth to attend each other’s social and work events, and meet each other’s friends and family. (During which time we were also trying to convince each other to move! Lol)

Ultimately, the 300+ wineries and beautiful hiking scenery of Virginia won! But Louisiana will continue to be our second home and we’ll be visiting frequently, both for Megan’s work and to visit family and friends!

In October of 2024, we were about to embark on a second Fall trip to the Charlottesville, VA area for hiking and vineyards when we stopped off for a quick hike at Great Falls National Park. And that is where Chris popped the question!
